I am Farzana Afzal, a businesswoman, community and social activist, and writer. While living in the UK for more than 30 years, I have noticed there is a dire need to provide knowledge on health and wellbeing, especially to ethnic minorities. As an ethnic minority myself, I think a communication barrier and a lack accessibility to such knowledge has meant ethnic minorities living in the UK are not aware of such matters. Therefore, I made it my mission to raise awareness on health and wellbeing issues, to help promote a better quality of life. I initially pursued this goal through column writing, blogging and vlogging, developing entertaining but educational content on health and social issues. After seeing the positive impact made, I decided to take this a step further and form Creative Minds Media, a dedicated space for my audience and I, so that I can better achieve my mission to help and strengthen minority groups. At Creative Minds Media, we host women-only monthly seminars, where guest speakers come to give talks on all types of health and social issues pertaining to women. The seminars are a safe space for women to interact with one another, discuss and debate, and ask questions without fear of being judged.
